“Pam, we are so grateful to you for the role you assumed in the renovations of our emergency shelter and the leadership you provided. The experience you brought to this project was invaluable. You listened to us about everything we hoped to gain from the renovations and with your experience you provided us with every last want and need. We had been told twice that it could not be done.
In addition to the actual physical structure, your knowledge of the construction process and pertinent codes was immeasurable. Your skill, patience and leadership in working with our local municipality, building inspector, a federal funder, the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, a contractor who wanted very much to help us but tired very quickly of the project, and our staff’s very limited knowledge is what brought this project to fruition with minimal angst.
Pam, you presented the project to us in its entirety and you also took the time to break the steps out so that we could understand all of the steps involved as well as the timeline and the breadth of the project. We benefited greatly from your ongoing correspondence with us and from your working with our contractor and our staff when we just could not see eye to eye and were not getting along or moving forward. Pam, you have remarkable communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Pam, I value the relationship we had with you and your attentiveness to us and our needs. And, you stayed within the budget and time frame! Thank you. Folks will be fortunate to be able to work with you.”

Contemporary Farmhouse
“We began working with Pam Hanson after deciding to retire to North Carolina to be near our grandchildren. We had purchased 7 acres of land, and wanted to build a house that would be a wonderful retirement home for us, but that would also have good resale value. After looking at many house plans online, we sketched out our ideas on graph paper and brought them to Pam. She turned our design into reality, with thoughtful insights on livability, energy efficiency, and aging at home. We are thrilled with the resulting plan, and enjoyed collaborating with Pam. The house will have a modern flow and efficiency, and yet will fit naturally into the rural site and neighborhood. Pam was always available to answer questions, and was very responsive to our timeline and budget. Pam’s gift is her ability to work in a very technical field yet be able to explain it in easy to understand terms. She studied North Carolina code requirements, communicated with our structural engineer, facilitated the building permit process, and assisted us in a multitude of ways. We would work with Pam again and recommend her to friends and family!”

Three Season Room
“Pam Hanson did a great job in designing an enclosed sun room addition to our existing deck. She listened, offered practical and creative ideas and completed the work in a timely fashion and at a reasonable cost. We recommend her highly for either new projects or additions such as ours. A true pleasure to work with!”

Ranch Renovation
“I'm writing to you almost a year after you did the redesign of my Claremont property. What is amazing to me after actually using the plan you provided, was the depth and breadth of the insight you put into the project. Not only did you take a non-functional layout of a 1950's era house and make it a very friendly flow, but you brought it into the 21st century. The trades people and building officials have all commented on how detailed and functional the plans you provided are. They are user-friendly, and easy for the lay person to understand. They truly are making the project go a lot smoother and they lay out in logical order the steps necessary to complete the changes, saving both time and money. Thank you for all your help and I look forward to working with you on my next project.”
